  Are you ready to sharpen your HR expertise, challenge conventional thinking, and connect with fellow HR professionals? BNHRC is excited to launch our Fall 2025 HR Professional Book Club, featuring the highly acclaimed book, No Ego by Cy Wakeman!

  
  

  What’s in it for you?

  • Free copy of the book: BNHRC will purchase No Ego for each Book Club member that is an active member of BNHRC. Guests can participate but will be responsible for providing their own book.
  • Earn HR certification credits: After reading the book, you’ll have the opportunity to earn valuable HR certification credits to support your professional development.
  • Engaging discussions: Dive into Cy Wakeman’s groundbreaking ideas on eradicating workplace drama and creating accountability.
  • Flexible format: Participate in a hybrid format—join in person or virtually, depending on your preference!
  • Professional networking: Build relationships with other HR professionals in the Bloomington-Normal area.

   

  Details:

  Starting in September, we’ll meet every two weeks for five sessions, discussing approximately 40 pages per meeting. This cadence will allow us to reflect on key concepts while balancing busy schedules.

  This presentation, led by Tom Wardrip of Gallagher HR & Compensation Consulting, is a comprehensive guide to developing equitable and transparent compensation programs. It blends strategic insights, benchmarking data, and practical methodologies to help organizations align compensation with market realities, legal compliance, and internal equity.

  Key themes include:

  • Organizational Wellbeing: Integrating financial, talent, and benefits strategies to support employee engagement and retention.
  • Compensation Planning Trends: Data-driven insights into how organizations structure compensation cycles and total rewards.
  • Pay Equity & Transparency: Legislative updates, especially for states like Illinois, and best practices for compliance and communication.
  • Benchmarking & Market Data: Use of salary surveys and compensation assessments to inform pay structures.
  • Implementation Strategy: Step-by-step guidance on conducting internal compensation studies, including budgeting, communication, and job placement.
