Show your pride in Bloomington-Normal!

BNHRC “Touch of Bloomington-Normal” basket to benefit SHRM Foundation
As you know, the Illinois State Council (ISC-SHRM) will be holding its annual state conference on July
23-24, 2009. Each chapter has been asked to donate a basket which will be raffled off to benefit the
national SHRM Foundation.

Our chapter thought it would be a fun idea to solicit small donated items from our members which
highlight some unique aspects of Bloomington-Normal’s rich history. For example, did you know that
Bloomington-Normal is the home of Beer Nuts? Or that the famous Route 66 highway once ran through
the heart of our downtown? So, whether you would like to give a notebook displaying the Illinois State
University logo or a copy of “Romeo and Juliet” to represent our annual Shakespeare festival, we
welcome your donation! Get creative! Below is a list of fun facts found on Wikipedia about Bloomington
-Normal.

If you are interested in giving an item to this project, please contact Heather Hammitt, our
Communications Chair, at communications@bnhrc.org. We would like all donations in by the June
chapter meeting so that the basket can be assembled and sent on to the State SHRM Foundation
Director, Donna Rogers.
